Five on the Black Hand Side / Dapline!
July 30th - August 1st
Dive deep into the origin and practice of dapping, the intricate handshake ritual that serves as a greeting, usually between black men. Composed like a musical fugue, crescendoing into complex repetitions, this dance and visual art installation explores the inter-generational history of the dap - originally created by black GIs during the Vietnam War - as well as the ever-relevant issue of Blackness relating to masculinity, image, and existence in the United States.
